Im being brave uploading this.
I have had HORRIBLE acne for along time now…Ever since I got off birth Control. My skin wasnt good from the start but it just got worse and worse after I got off it. Soo…I went to google to help me out. I found a website called Acne.org and it has seriously changed my life. The Before picture was taken on July, 12th, 2009…The After was Taken This morning. No I do not have perfect skin. I probly never will. But My skin is completely different then what it was. I started using Neutrogena’s Clear pore Cleanser/Mask twice aday. And Neutrogena’s on the spot treatment at night before I went to sleep. I started doing that Regimen at the beginning of October 2009. Its been less then a year and results are amazing.

If you read all of that. Thanks. :) oh ps. I dont have any makeup on in either on these. I have some left over eyeliner on from the night before but thats about it.

Sorry for the crazy eyes. lol I just woke up.

Oh I would also like to note that I have tried Prescription drugs, Proactiv, and all kinds of clean & Clear, Oxy , Clearasil, etc. And NOTHING worked for me. Everyones skin is differnt. I have Oily skin.

Phylolacca americana:"Poke root has a considerable reputation for stimulating the lymphatic system. Herbalists use it for tonsilitis, swollen glands and mumps. It is also used in rheumatism because it stimulates elimination from the tissues. As a poultice, it is used to treat mastitis. CAUTION: The fresh plant is poisonous. In large doses, the dried root (the part used medically) is emetic and cathartic. Overdoses can be fatal."

"Since pioneer times, pokeweed has been used as a folk remedy to treat many ailments. It can be applied topically or taken internally. Topical treatments have been used for acne and other ailments. Internal treatments include tonsilitis, swollen glands and weight loss. Grated pokeroot was used by Native Americans as a poultice to treat inflammations and rashes of the breast. Independent researchers are investigating phytolacca’s use in treating AIDS and cancer patients. Especially to those who have not been properly trained in its use, pokeweed should be considered dangerous and possibly deadly.

"All parts of pokeweed are toxic except the aboveground leaves sprouting in the early spring. The poisonous principles are found in highest concentrations in the rootstock, less in the mature leaves and stems, and least in the fruits. Young leaves, if collected before acquiring a red color, are edible if boiled for 5 minutes, rinsed, and reboiled. Berries are toxic when raw but edible when cooked.

"Ingestion of poisonous parts of the plant may cause severe stomach cramping, nausea with persistent diarrhea and vomiting, slow and difficult breathing, weakness, spasms, hypotension, severe convulsions, and death. However, consuming fewer than 10 uncooked berries is generally harmless to adults. Several investigators have reported deaths in children following the ingestion of uncooked berries or pokeberry juice. Severe poisonings have been reported in adults who ingested mature pokeweed leaves and following the ingestion of tea brewed from one-half teaspoonful of powdered pokeroot.

"Pokeweed berries yield a red ink or dye, which was once used by aboriginal Americans to decorate their horses. The United States Declaration of Independence was written in fermented pokeberry juice (hence the common name ‘inkberry’). Many letters written home during the American Civil War were written in pokeberry ink; the writing in these surviving letters appears brown."

Rosacea Treatment and Prevention and Tips

Rosacea Treatment and Prevention and Tips

Rosacea is a common but often misunderstood condition that is estimated to affect over 45 million people worldwide. Rosacea is a chronic and potentially life-disruptive disorder primarily of the facial skin, often characterized by flare-ups and remissions. Rosacea is often passed on in families, with women being afflicted more often than their male counterparts. Men, however, often get more severe forms of rosacea. For women with rosacea, increased flushing and blushing may occur around and during menopause. Rosacea affects an estimated 14 million Americans. Adults, especially those between 30 and 50 years of age who have lighter skin, blonde hair and blue eyes, are most likely to suffer from rosacea. People with rosacea often find that certain lifestyle and environmental factors trigger a flare-up or aggravate their individual conditions. Certain medications and topical irritants can quickly progress rosacea.

Rosacea is basically different than acne. Rosacea strikes both sexes. The immune system also has been implicated as playing a role in rosacea’s development. Some people with rosacea have increased numbers of the mite, especially those with steroid induced rosacea. Steroid induced rosacea is the term given to rosacea caused by the use of topical or nasal steroids. These steroids are often prescribed for seborrheic dermatitis. Some acne and wrinkle treatments cause rosacea include microdermabrasion, chemical peels, high dosages of isotretinoin, benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin. Exposure to temperature extremes can cause the face to become flushed as well as strenuous exercise, heat from sunlight, severe sunburn, stress, anxiety, cold wind, moving to a warm or hot environment from a cold one such as heated shops and offices during the winter. Rosacea may also result in reddened skin, scaling and swelling of affected areas.

Rosacea sufferers often report periods of depression stemming from cosmetic disfigurement, painful burning sensations, and decreases in quality of life. Tetracycline antibiotics including doxycycline and minocycline reduce inflammation. Sometimes other oral antibiotics such as cotrimoxasole or metronidazole are prescribed for resistant cases. Metronidazole cream or gel can be used intermittently or long term on its own for mild cases and in combination with oral antibiotics for more severe cases. Dermatological vascular laser (single wavelength) or Intense Pulsed Light (broad spectrum) machines offer one of the best treatments for rosacea. Azelaic acid cream or lotion is also effective, applied twice daily to affected areas. CO2 lasers can be used to remove excess tissue caused by phymatous rosacea. Cosmetics may be used to conceal the effects of rosacea.

Rosacea Treatment and Prevention Tips

1. Avoid oil-based facial creams. Use water-based make-up.

2. Never apply a topical steroid to the rosacea.

3. Protect yourself from the sun. Use light oil-free facial sunscreens.

4. Keep your face cool: minimize your exposure to hot or spicy foods, alcohol, hot showers and baths and warm rooms.

5. CO2 lasers can be used to remove excess tissue caused by phymatous rosacea.

6. Vascular laser (single wavelength) or Intense Pulsed Light (broad spectrum) machines offer one of the best treatments for rosacea

7. Isotretinoin (Accutane) is a powerful medication sometimes used for more severe cases of inflammatory rosacea.

8. Oral antibiotics may also help to relieve symptoms of ocular rosacea.

Q&A: What is the best method and cost of acne scar removal?

August 31st, 2010 — 3:13am

Question by Melody: What is the best method and cost of acne scar removal?
Four months ago I had a large acne cyst on my nose that had to be removed by a dermatologist, who said that there should be no resulting scar. Unfortunately, I was still left with a large, raised reddish-purple scar that has not shown signs of fading since. What would be the best method of removal (medication or surgery) and what would be the cost for a single scar? Thanks for your help.

Really depends on how dark the scars is. Laser treatments are great for that situation. I had the v beam treatment for some red spots that I had. It took one treatment and mine was gone. 5.00 and it was gone. Good Luck

How the Silent Treatment Creates Customers

August 27th, 2010 — 9:18pm

How the Silent Treatment Creates Customers

Sooner or later you will have to ask someone to buy something from you. Whether you have a retail store, and a couple has been admiring an expensive couch for the last 20 minutes, or you are a consultant or coach who has just finished an initial conversation with a potential client, the question is waiting to be asked. “So, are you ready to buy?”

I’ve found that this is a very sacred time, when a potential sale is approaching. Because it is so sacred, after you ask someone to purchase, the moment can feel very pregnant indeed. The air can suddenly seem so thick you could cut it with a knife.

As a business owner, the worst thing you can do is splash into this space with more words. It’s time to be silent and wait for their answer. After all, you asked a question, it’s their turn now. It’s best to be silent and wait.

But why is it so tempting to jump in?

When you ask the question, what you are really doing is painting a picture of the future. They don’t have a couch, and you’ve just painted a picture of the future where they suddenly have a couch. They also have less money than they did before (having spent it on the couch.) It’s a future they haven’t lived in yet.

But they’ve already been considering the purchase for at least 20 minutes, possibly much longer, why should your question add to the situation? Because they can’t create that future on their own: they need your help. When you show up and ask the question, all the pieces line up to make this potential future a reality. It helps them step towards the future they want.

Suddenly, it’s real.

Sufi teachings, as well as quantum physics, teach us that reality is being created anew in every moment. We’re all 99.9% empty space, with some charged particles bouncing around inside. The experience of our physical reality is constantly in motion, being given life again and again and again in every new version of the Now.

Mostly we live in oblivion of this (thankfully). It would be pretty hard to get through the day if you had to experience the utter nothingness and miracle of rebirth every time you sit down to eat your grapefruit.

I’m not going to suggest that every time someone considers buying from you you need to deliver an ecstatic moment :-) . But I do believe that whenever we consider taking an action that could significantly change our lives, strong emotions come to the surface.

Your question is the catalyst.

When you ask the question, you suddenly took a powerful potentiality and –boom– solidifed it. And your future is at stake too- in a few minutes you may no longer have a couch, and your business may be 00 richer.

Once you ask the question, the most effective thing you can do is give your potential customer the silent treatment. Just be quiet. Shhh. Zip it. Don’t say anything.

Mmmmphpbbbmmmhphbb…

Shush! :-)

Why it’s so hard to stay silent: Sympathy versus Empathy

Sympathy is “feelings of pity and sorrow for another’s misfortune.” Empathy is “the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.” Most of us are trained, in challenging situations, to go into sympathy.

Example of sympathy: “I’m so sorry the garbage truck smashed your car.” Example of empathy: “I saw what that truck did to your car. I’m guessing you are pretty angry and upset.”

The difference? The sympathetic statement focused on you- how you felt about your friend’s car. The empathy focused a statement of witnessing “I saw what the truck did to your car,” and then your best reasonable, heart-felt guess on how your friend feels about their own car. In sympathy, you steal the spotlight. Empathy you give the other person centerstage.

So how can you keep silent? And what does it have to do with your business?

The Best Acne Treatment

August 26th, 2010 — 7:16pm

The Best Acne Treatment

To choose the best acne treatment is a tricky task because not all acne is the same.  There are a number of different types of acne, and there is no common treatment that is equally effective for each.  Nor are there treatments that work with each form of acne in the same way, since the treatment depends a great deal on the severity of the condition.

One of the more effective acne treatments is benzoyl peroxide, which is the active ingredient behind many different topical treatments such as Clearasil Max and ProActive. However, you have to be careful with benzoyl peroxide on your face because it could cause irritation of your skin.  It is better used on thicker skin, and is therefore widely used for treating back acne. It not only possesses antibacterial properties but also promotes the flaking of dead surface skin cells.

One of the problems with acne is that a treatment that one person finds effective might not be so for another. Each person has to find an acne treatment that is most effective for their own condition. Some of the milder forms of acne can be treated simply with a mild facial cleanser.  If you follow this up with a commercial antibacterial acne treatment, then you will have as good a chance as any of controlling your condition or even of curing it.

If your acne is deeper and more persistent, a treatment needs to be designed to effectively reduce the production of sebum.  This is the oil that is believed to be responsible for most acne conditions.  This treatment approach would be an effective way of preventing the acne from getting worse and possibly even stopping it altogether.  One prescription for achieving this is called isotretinoin (e.g. Accutane), a Vitamin A based treatment. It will only be prescribed by a doctor if the acne is severe and persistent, and is not suitable for anybody with liver problems.

With regard to topical acne creams, Vitamin A (retinol) can be effective, although a proportion of the population contract dry and flaking skin when they use it. In fact that is how it works:  by promoting flaking off of the top skin cell. It is basically a topical form of the oral isotretinoin, but not as strong. It is not the perfect treatment, and like most acne treatments, it will suit some more than others.

Antibiotic treatments can be effective, particularly when used in conjunction with skin-shedding applications such as benzoyl peroxide or retinol. However, most topical treatments will show few benefits for at least six months.  So you are looking at long-term treatments rather than the quick fix. In fact there really are no quick fixes for acne, although laser treatment can produce rapid results in serious cases.

Oral contraceptives have been found to work for women with acne.  A combination of the testosterone suppressant, cyproterone acetate and the hormone ethinylestradiol (eg. Dianette) have been found to be an effective treatment. It works by suppressing the male hormones (that all women have) and with it, the production of sebum.

There is really no such thing as the best acne treatment because each works differently with different people.  This simply indicates the difficulty in understanding the true causes and nature of the condition.  The way for you to find the best acne treatment is start off with the milder treatments and work up.  Thus, antibacterial soaps and body scrubs should be followed with topical over the counter acne creams.  If these don’t work, then your physician might suggest a prescription treatment, and eventually, with a bit of persistence on your part, you will come across an acne treatment that suits you. The best acne treatment for an individual is the one that works.

How much would it cost?

Answer by Amanda
I think you can get writtne consent form your parents. It can cost anywhere from 0-0 per treatment here in the US

I had it done and went 7 times and nothing changed. I spent a small fortune It was not fun at all.

I also tried Proavtive, Neutrogena, lots of department store brands (clinique, chanel) and non of them worked.

I now use a skin regime that is outstanding and haven’t had a pimple since. Its an anti-aging system by Mary Kay. I have very sensitive skin so this system works best for me because it doesnt try to throw harsh chemicals at the pimples. It just cleanses my skin to a health glow.
